Washington Guardianship Planning

Plan ahead for caregiving and decision-making needs.

Washington Guardianship Planning Guidance

Guardianship planning allows individuals and families to prepare for situations in which a court-appointed guardian may be needed for a minor or vulnerable adult. Estate plans can help reduce uncertainty and court involvement.

Through wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, many families can address future caregiving and financial management without formal guardianship proceedings.

When guardianship becomes necessary, understanding court procedures and alternatives can help protect loved ones and reduce conflict.
